Live Auditions August 19
Rise Up Children’s Choir is now holding open auditions for our 2025–2026 season in Utah County!
ARE YOU READY TO RISE?
We are always looking for passionate, talented young vocalists who love to sing, perform, and inspire. If your child dreams of using their voice to uplift others and create world-class music,
this is the place! We welcome performers ages 6–18. All experience levels are welcome — what matters most is a love of music, a positive attitude, and a commitment to excellence.

IGNITE
Our beginning ensemble for children ages 6 to 12 is directed by Katie Houts. Open for general admission in both Salt Lake Valley and Utah Valley. No audition is required. To sign up, click the "Registration" tab at the top of the page! If you are new to our program, tap "Click Here to Register" and set up a new account. All children ages 6 and 7 must spend at least one season in Ignite before they are eligible for the Children's Choir.

CHILDREN'S CHOIR
Placement for the Children’s Choir is by audition only for children ages 8 to 18. Auditions are simple and stress free, and can be completed online or in-person. See instructions below

LIVE AUDITIONS
DATE: TUESDAY, AUGUST 19 at 6:00 PM
LOCATION: LEHI HIGH SCHOOL CHORAL ROOM
Rise Up offers singers exciting performance opportunities, unique musical experiences, and the chance to be part of a one-of-a-kind choral community.
AUDITION FORMAT
Auditions will feel just like a typical Rise Up rehearsal—relaxed, engaging, and fun.
-
You will sing a segment of the Children’s Choir’s arrangement of “Mountain” with other children singing differing vocal parts. You must show the ability to hold your own vocal part independently while other children are singing their parts. This is the minimum requirement which must be met for admission to the Children's Choir.
-
Learn the music provided at THIS LINK starting at Letter C (measure number 20) through measure number 36 (just before Letter F). Audio practice tracks are also available at this link as well and are especially helpful for those who don’t know how to read music yet. Learn the segment at :40 through 1:23. You are welcome to print out the sheet music and bring it to callbacks, however, you should be able to perform your part without referencing the sheet music.
-
We are looking for individuals who can sing their part with confidence and musicality. Additionally, we want you to perform! We want to see your energy and personality and hear your unique voice.

DETAILS
COMMITMENT

Placement in a Rise Up ensemble is a season-long commitment beginning September 2025 through June 2026. Membership is not month-to-month, and students who are cast are expected to remain for the entirety of the season.

Independent learning is key for students in Children's Choir, Lumina and Amplify as they are expected to learn much of their music at home on their own so that rehearsals are efficient and productive. The rehearsal process for these ensembles can be likened to that of a theatrical production where cast members are required to memorize their lines and music on their own so the director can work with the entire ensemble in rehearsal.

All members are required to attend a mandatory orientation and season kick-off camp. The Ignite and Children's Choir kick-off camps will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2025. The Lumina and Amplify kick-off camp date will be determined at a later date.

ENSEMBLES

Ignite is an educational ensemble for beginning to intermediate-level singers ages 6 to 12 where children are introduced to the fundamentals of choral singing (musical and rhythmic acuity, following a conductor's gestures) while developing strong vocal technique, learning to read music and solfege in a fun and engaging environment. Students attend weekly 50-minute in-person rehearsals from September through June. In addition to live community performing opportunities and our final concert of the year, the group records and films one music videos per year.
Children’s Choir is an advanced choral performance group for youth ages 8 to 18. As the flagship ensemble of the Rise Up organization, the Children’s Choir requires students to have excellent musicianship and performance skills, as well as strong self-discipline and motivation. Children attend weekly 80-minute in-person rehearsals from September through June. In addition to live performance, the group regularly records music in the studio and films music videos for social media streaming platforms.

Lumina is a small, advanced pop/rock ensemble for young women ages 13 to 18. Students attend weekly 90-minute in-person rehearsals on Mondays from September through June, and an extended 120-minute rehearsal the first Monday of each month. In addition to participating in the art of live performance, members learn skills to prepare them for professional work in the commercial music media industry including songwriting, studio recording, and production. In addition to live performance, the group regularly records music in the studio and films music videos for social media streaming platforms.

Amplify is a small, award-winning advanced a cappella ensemble for mixed voices ages 13 to 18. Students attend weekly 90-minute in-person rehearsals from September through June. Membership in Amplify is demanding and requires a full season-long commitment as the ensemble competes January through March 2026. Mandatory extra rehearsals and travel are required during these months. (This experience can be likened to participation on a seasonal competitive sports team.) In addition to live performance, Amplify regularly records music in the studio and films music videos for social media streaming platforms.

CHILDREN'S CHOIR 2026 TOUR

The Children's Choir is touring June 25-30, 2026, to participate in the San Diego Youth Choral Festival. This 6-day festival offers students the opportunities to work with a guest conductor and perform, among other works, the world premiere of a newly commissioned piece as well as their own concert repertoire in some of the most unique and beautiful venues San Diego has to offer. Join us for a fun, educational, cultural exchange in a location where great weather, pristine beaches and world class attractions make this festival a memorable experience. Participation is optional, but all members of the Children's Choir are invited to go on tour. Registration is due on September 15, 2024. Pricing and pay schedule to be published soon.

AMPLIFY 2025 A CAPPELLA TOUR

Amplify competes in an a cappella competition and/or convention which requires travel in the months of January through March 2026. Participation in the competitions/conventions is required. The total cost of travel is assessed once we know the location of the competitions/conventions is the fall, but suggest students set aside $2000 for travel.
